26-Apr-2008: Yes, I realize this page is out of date. I have not been making much progress lately on delineating what I believe. I hope to get back to this soon …
One of my goals for 2007 is to start writing my Creed. You can watch me agonize over delineating my beliefs by checking back here periodically. Occasionally, I’ll post the current version on my blog so that I can get constructive comments on what I’m writing. Thank you.
Draft date 13-Feb-2007
- I believe in something beyond our physical world.
- I believe the Christian God of the Bible is an approximation to the “Real Thing”, as is Allah, Shiva, Atman, etc.
To think that human language can describe God in absolutely true detail is beyond ridiculous. We can not gaze upon his face yet we can know him with utter precision? We can not understand the paradox of free-will and predestination (which, by the way, God does understand) yet we have every detail of God’s being figured out to such an extent that we are able to say with absolute certainty that someone else’s conception of God is wrong? To say that we know God so intimately takes a lot of hubris and a lot of ignorance.
- I believe the “Real Thing” is within each and every one of us.
See this post and that post. This is the only solution that doesn’t condemn billions of people to Hell for being born in the wrong place and at the wrong time.
