Email blacklisting is an archaic and dangerous practice being clung to by a small number of organizations in order to legitimize to their control over the flow of information on the internet. These blacklists are intended to stop spam. If you get as much spam as I do, you will realize that this strategy is not working. A lot of spam is from gmail, hotmail and yahoo, including the infamous "Nigerian" scams, and yet these organizations don't have their IP addresses blacklisted.
